The Government of India, should make all the efforts to offer all the services, they have in their basket, including telephone bill collection for both landline (also PCOs) and cellular, distribution of broad-band services, training the public including school / college students, various value added services, utility bill payments for telephone-electricity-water-wealth-insurance, birth & death certificates, I.T. payment, motor-vehicles payment, police complaints, sale of retail / semi durable goods on-line etc.

All the inclined PCOs may be equipped as micro customer care of BNSL/MTNL and other services provider’s . We would like to emphasize on BNSL because most of the booths are with BNSL and several of them were with DOT/ BSNL for long.

The commission should be increased towards sale of recharge coupons and tele-bill collection.

PCOs should get the privilege to train themselves first with the help of BSNL or any other Govt. Institution at no cost with regard to the easy operation and internet use. India certainly is turning out to be a major I.T. market worldwide and will employ around 8 to 9 million (Central Communication Minister said so) within a short span of time. The general public should be provided with the opportunity to learn computer at no cost and the PCOs with the help of Govt. institutions should get the opportunity to teach the basics to the general public against just payment from the authority.

We are in search of business partners for not only survival of the STD PCOs but also the upliftment of their status rather our status.

Aachievements.

We do not need to mention in details the achievement in association with the traditional service providers such as BSNL/MTNL and others services providers. We, however thank those who have leaped forward and showed genuine intention for the welfare of the STD booths. Mr. S.D. Suxena, Dirctor finance, Mr. S.K. seth, DDG HQ. BSNL & Mr. Yogesh Kocher deserves mention made positive efforts to improve the position of the STD PCO’s operating under him albeit he has been facing obstacles to implement. We want other CGMs of BSNL/MTNL and the concerned executives of other companies to follow suit. They are urged to offer the PCO franchisees what-ever they have in their baskets.

We have Incorporated indian PCO Teleservices Ltd. and is making so to make things better for the poor PCOs specially those who are members of the association and now also with IPTL. The following services shall be launched soon countrywide to make efforts

Several other services which will not be provided by ITPL may be arranged for, in the near future.

We, however, need more members Nation-wide so that we are in a position to glorify our strength which shall lure many other private companies and may also lead the State Governments to provide on-line facilities upto Distt./ exchange level. Besides, billions of rupees are being invested and will be done so in the near future not only by the Govt. of India but also by the private investors from India and abroad. We shall also, certainly, be the beneficiary. The association will find the platform to be in a position to help the members. Hence, there are reasons to smile again. Eventually our object is to come out of the woods and reach the same status, if not better, as we were in 90’s. Instead of PCO franchisees, we want to be known as Multi – Utility service point operators and would like to render services such as:

We will place our demand both Central & State Governments to arrange for subsidy and loan to modernize the STD booths so that the neglected STD PCO franchisees can install computers and allied necessary gadgets.

The telecom service providers like BSNL & other service provider should also come forward to offer economic broadband services. The Central Government must offer helping hands as PCO sector was a unique plan of the government meant for educated youth, once, and has a socio-economic responsibility. They just can not ignore that. Can they?

Association Aims to publish an all India Magazine, very short from Delhi and he will urge for active participation from the DRs and members. Wants to establish the correspondence & contact address in Delhi for effective functioning.
